Description:
The installation consists of a blue-painted wrought iron fence that represents waves gathering force as they head toward granite breakwaters on either side of the entrance to the housing complex. Resting atop each granite breakwater is a steel sculpture that represents the frothy mass of water after the wave hits the breakwater.

The inscription on a plaque embedded in the brick sidewalk reads: FOR THE ADORNMENT AND BENEFIT OF BOSTON/B/Redesign and renovation of Old Harbor Village Square were/made possible in 1990 by The Mary Ellen McCormack/Task Force with a grant from the/Edward Ingersoll Browne Trust Fund,/a private fund administered by/the city of Boston/EDWARD I. BROWNE FUND COMMISSION . MAYOR RAYMOND L. FLYNN, CHAIRMAN . CHRISTOPHER A. IANNELLA, VICE-CHAIRMAN/LEE F. JACKSON, COLLECTOR-TREASURER . JOSEPH I. MULLIGAN, FUND COUNSEL.
