Remarks:
IAS files include a related article from the Des Moines Register, Sept. 23, 1988 which details the provenance history of the sculpture. The idea for the sculpture originated in 1977. When the artist was unable to sell the sculpture and pay back a bank loan for the materials, the First National Bank (Iowa City, Iowa) repossessed the art. It was installed in Greenwood Park (Des Moines, Iowa) from ca. 1977 to 1979. Then six of the seven cubes were put on display at Wartburg College (Waverly, Iowa). Controversial because of its abstract nature, the sculpture was loaned to Marshalltown Community College in 1981, where it remained until 1986. The sculpture was then given to the Department of Parks & Recreation (Iowa City, Iowa), and installed in Terrace Mills Park (Iowa City, Iowa). In 1988, the sculpture was returned to Marshalltown Community College (Marshalltown, Iowa).
