    Description: 
    Four eagles with wings spread are installed one on each of the four corners of the Market Street Bridge over the Schuylkill River. The bases are adorned with carved lion heads and drapery.

    Remarks: 
    These eagles were once part of twenty-two eagles of various sizes carved by Weinman for exterior of New York's Pennsylvania Station designed by McKim, Mead & White and built ca. 1903-1910. Weinman carved fourteen Milford pink granite eagles, each weighing 5,500 lbs., for the roof. He also carved another eight smaller eagles of made of Knoxville marble. When the station was demolished between 1963 and 1965, the Pennsylvania Railroad gave four of the large granite eagles to the Fairmount Park Art Association.
