Description:
A uniformed Civil War soldier, presumably of the Millersburg, Pennsylvania regiment, stands at ease. His hands rest on the muzzle of his rifle in front of his chest, the butt resting by his proper left foot. The soldier wears an overcoat and a cap. The sculpture is mounted upon a multitiered, rough-edged base, set on brick pavers.

Remarks:
Monument commemorates Civil War soldiers of Millersburg, Pennsylvania, erected under the auspices of the Kilpatrick Post No. 212, G.A.R. Funding was raised by the Kilpatrick Post, with a drive started by the Millersburg Sentinel. Total cost of the memorial was $740, which included $250 for sculpture, $350 for base, $104 for bronze base plaque, and $36 for the foundation. IAS files contain a newspaper article from the Patriot-News (Harrisburg, Pennsylvania), Jan. 10, 1995, Metro-East sect., pg. 22; and an excerpt from a June 1993 condition assessment by Art Research & Technology of Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
