Remarks:
Dedicated Memorial Day 1970. The lady's-slipper orchid is a rare Maine wild flower. On a nearby boulder is an outline map of the State of Maine with the following inscription: TO MAINE/VETERANS &/THEIR FAMILIES/THIS MEMORIAL/REPRESENTS THE/COURAGE AND/HONOR OF THOSE/WHO/SERVED. Inscribed below the map is the following: MAINE/VETERANS MEMORIAL/CEMETERY ASSOCIATION/MAY 1985. Two pieces of the sculpture have needed rewelding. IAS files contain artist's statement about this sculpture.
