    Remarks: 
    Title supplied by Inventory cataloger.
    Gift of the Monmouth Civic Club (a women's group dedicated to beautifying the community) and partially funded through the Works Progress Administration (WPA), as part of a park improvement effort. The Club's minutes state that the cost was $1,637.03, of which $1,011.75 was from the WPA. The plaque was presented at the rededication by local historian Charles Alva. Alva, a retired professor, researched and confirmed the origins of the fountain theretofore unknown. IAS files contain related articles from the Monmouth Herald, Nov. 2, 1939 and the Statesman (Monmouth, OR), June 25, 1993.
