    Remarks:
Within a month of McKinley's assassination, a Toledo organization was formed to erect a monument to the late president. The monument cost $15,000. Donations from Toledo and Lucas County residents and children totaled $10,000 with the county commissioners appropriating an additional $5,000.
The artist was commissioned in Oct. 10, 1902 to create the sculpture. He used photographs and a death mask of the late President in creating the piece. George W. Weinard and Fred Eibsen served as models for the sculpture. The granite base and pedestal was constructed by Lloyd Bros.
An estimated 30,000 to 40,000 attended the dedication ceremony on Sept. 14, 1903, the second anniversary of McKinley's death. IAS files contain copy of Toledo Blade newspaper articles dating from Sept. 10-14th, 1903, which discuss commission and dedication of memorial in detail.
