    Description: 
    A war memorial comprised of a tall granite shaft, topped by a bronze figure of a Confederate soldier, and near the base, figures of a artilleryman on the east and a cavalryman on the west. The Confederate soldier at the top is dressed in uniform and stands holding a rifle, the butt resting near his proper right foot.

    Remarks: 
    Commissioned by Kentucky Womans Confederate Monument Association in honor of Confederate soldiers. The total cost of the monument was $12,000. IAS files also contain excerpts from Samuel W. Thomas and William Morgan's "Old Louisville: The Victorian Era," Louisville, KY: Courier Journal & Times, 1975. and the Register of Kentucky Historical Society, April 1956. The monument was erected by the Muldoon Monument Company.
