    Description: 
    Two robed allegorical female figures, representing Humanity and Justice, stand side by side in front of an American flag. Between them, they jointly hold a wreath, each figure grasping the wreath with one hand, arms entwined with one another. One figure holds a laurel branch in her proper right hand and the other figure holds a sheathed sword in her proper left hand. The sculpture rests atop a rectangular stone base that rests on two steps.

    Remarks: 
    The memorial was initiated at the 1923 Town Meeting and a year later Herbert Adams was commissioned. The memorial cost $56,228.60, of which $8,500 was raised through public subscription and the remainder was funded by Lewis Parkhurst. In 1965, the Sons of Italy financed the restoration of the memorial. IAS files contain excerpts from the Town of Winchester, Town Report 1925.
