    Remarks:
The monument honors those from Wenham who died in the Civil War. After the Civil War, the citizens of Wenham voted to erect a monument to Wenham soldiers who died, but the monument fund was not started until eight years later when Edmund Mudge of Danvers offered his salary as Representative ($550). This sum was increased to $1,476.91 through public subscriptions and a town appropriation. IAS files contain a copy of the Massachusetts Historical Commission Form C - Monuments questionnaire dated June 1, 1970.
