    Remarks:
The sculpture was commissioned by the Wayne Chick Shown Committee, an offshoot of the Wayne Arts Council, in 1993. The rooster is the mascot of Wayne's Annual Chicken Show. The legend of Sasquawk tells of huge chicken footprints sighted along Dog Creek near Wayne, which coincided with the disappearance of dogs along the creek. The statue is used as an advertisement for the Annual Chicken Show and is used elsewhere for temporary displays. In 1994, it was refurbished and repainted by Todd Griesch, of Tom's Body Shop. IAS files contain newsclippings from the Wayne Herald (Wayne, IN), July 5, 1994, pg. 11.
