(Names of those who served in the Union army are listed near the bottom of the base in raised lettering) unsigned Founder's mark appears.
    Description: 
    Full-length figure of a Union soldier in full uniform, including cap and long coat. The figure has a mustache and holds a flag in his proper left hand. His proper right hand holds the remnants of a missing sword. The figure stands atop an ornate, tiered pedestal which includes a list of names.

    Remarks: 
    Erected by the citizens of Carver County in honor of Union soldiers. Reportedly the first monument dedicated to veterans erected through County funds and public subscription. The Town of Waconia contributed $813. IAS files include an excerpt from the book, "Monumental Minnesota," by Moira Harris, ([St. Paul]: Pogo Press, 1992).
