Provenance:
Formerly located Intersection of County Trunk Highways S & J, Turtle, Wisconsin
Remarks:
The clock honors Corporal Lester F. Butler, of Company L, 127th Infantry, 32nd Division, who was born October 11, 1886, and was killed in action during World War I on August 4, 1918 in Fismes, France. The clock also honors the veterans of the Civil War, the Spanish-American War, World War I and other wars. The sculpture was originally located at the intersection of County Trunk Highways S and J. In 1926 the clock was knocked down and damaged by two run-away horses. When the clock was repaired, wooden rings were made for the clock's four faces. Around 1991 the wooden rings were replaced with new metal rings. IAS files contain a Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Catalog sculpture report (Rock County I.D. No. RCVM 19) prepared October 1991.
