    Description: 
    Bronze relief plaque depicting the carrying of the cable. A group of seven men are shown carrying a thick cable over their shoulders. In front of them is a cart, with the remainder of the cable coiled in the bed of the cart. The men are surrounded by forest. In the background on the right side of the plaque is a map of the cable trail from the Sandy Creek battlefield through Ellisburg, Belleville, Roberts Corners, Smithville and Sackets Harbor. The plaque is mounted to the front of a rough-hewn granite marker.

    Remarks: 
    The marker is one of four installed to commemorate the carrying of the ship cable from Big Sandy Creek to Sackets Harbor during the War of 1812. The markers were dedicated under the auspices of the National Society, U.S. Daughters of 1812, State of New York and the state of New York. IAS files contain copies of related articles from Watertown Daily Times, Sept. 29 and Oct. 1, 1930.
