    Description: 
    A copper clad flagpole surmounted by a bronze eagle is adorned at the base with a cylindrical bronze relief depicting enlisted men and officers, sailors, an aviator, and a Red Cross nurse. The figures are depicted standing one next to the other around the base of the flagpole. Just above the figures is a bronze band containing reliefs of a California bear, a ship, a fasces with arrows and coats-of-arms, and the names of World War I battles. Beneath the relief sculpture is a cylindrical granite base.

    Remarks: 
    The memorial cost $36,000, which was funded through contributions by Pasadena citizens. Originally, the sculpture was installed at the Western Gateway at the intersection of Colorado Boulevard and Orange Grove Boulevard, but in 1948 it was relocated to an adjacent city-owned property when traffic signals were installed on the street.
