    Description: 
    A granite marker adorned with a bronze relief depicting two Continental Army soldiers and a team of oxen dragging a sled loaded with a cannon and powder.

    Remarks: 
    The marker commemorates General Henry Knox who in the winter of 1775-1776 delivered a "train of artillery" from Fort Ticonderoga to General George Washington in Cambridge. This marker is one of several that traces the route General Knox took to transport his load of artillery. IAS files contain a copy of the Massachusetts Historical Commission Form C - Monuments questionnaire dated Oct. 17, 1983; and newspaper articles from The Berkshire Eagle, Nov. 25, 1972, pg. 19; March 28, 1973; May 16, 1973; and Oct. 27, 1973.
