    Description: 
    Abstract fountain constructed of beams of redwood of various heights and lengths. Three of the six vertical columns spout water from small, circular holes. Three horizontal beams form connecting troughs through which water flows into the fountain basin below. The fountain stands in the center of a four-armed basin. The concrete basin is scored and mortared to resemble stone.

    Remarks: 
    Nearby plaque: "Mabel Hartman Fountain. Her gift to the Novato Garden Club with a wish that this fountain be enjoyed by the community. 1980." The fountain was prefabricated and was ordered through a catalog from Alameda, CA. Installation of the fountain was sponsored by the Novato Garden Club and was dedicated to the memory of Mabel Hartman, who bequeathed $5,000 to fund it. The materials and labor for the basin were provided by the Rotary Club of Novato. IAS files contain copies of related articles from Novato Advance, Sept. 22, Nov. 10 and Dec. 21, 1982. Henry Cole was architect for the site.
