    Description: 
    A heroic female figure, symbolic of Peace, with a palm frond in her raised proper left hand and a torch in her raised proper right hand. There is an electric light on top of both the palm frond and the torch. The sculpture is installed atop a square granite base.

    Remarks: 
    The idea for the memorial originated with the Norman Dow Post, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and in cooperation with the American Legion, the Spanish War Veterans, and Sons of Union Veterans. IAS files contain transcription of news articles from Bangor Public Library, including Bangor Daily News, Jan. 14, 1937, Jan. 27, 1937, Nov. 7, 1938, and May 31, 1939.
