    Description: 
    Two seated allegorical female figures representing Victory and Peace, rest against either side of an inscription plaque installed above the entrance to Grant's tomb. One figure holds a sheaf of leaves over her proper right shoulder and the other holds a sword over her proper left shoulder.

    Funds for sculpture were raised through public subscription. John Hemingway Duncan designed the tomb and J. Massey Rhind's figures adorn it. The plaque is inscribed with Grant's famous wordds "Let us have peace."
