Located New Woodstock, New York
Remarks:
Erected by the citizens of New Woodstock in honor of its citizens who served in the Revolutionary War, the War of 1812 and the Civil War. (It replaces an earlier wood memorial sponsored by the Knowlton Legion Post and pulled out for Memorial day celebrations). Over $300 was raised for the new memorial through public subscription, including contributions of nickels and dimes from local schoolchildren. The sculpture was originally placed on the corner of Route 13 & Damon Road, but moved to its current site around 1993 because of road construction. IAS files contain an unpublished essay detailing the history of the monument, the names which appear on the plaque and a related article from the Cazenovia Republican, July 22, 1992.
