    Description: 
    Fiberglass figure of a mule. The mule stands 15 hands high. The sculpture stands on a rectangular pedestal made of Arkansas stone and set in concrete.

    Remarks: 
    Nearby Texas Historical Marker plaque: "The Mule. Without ancestral pride of hope of offspring, the mule, along with the buffalo, hound and longhorn, made Texas history." The initiative to raise a memorial to the mule was begun by Dr. J. B. Barnett who formed the Mule Memorial Association in August 1961. Donations were received from all over the world to help fund the $5,000 memorial. IAS files contain copy of related article from Dallas Morning News, April 3, 1967 and excerpt from Ann Ruff's "Amazing Texas Monuments and Museums", Houston: Lone Star Books, 1984, pg. 16-17.
