Located Corner of East Market Street & Cemetary Road, Middleburg, Pennsylvania
Remarks:
The monument cost $7,800 and erected by the County. In 1903, the County approved the idea of creating war memorials, the cost and design to be based on each city's population at the time. Disputes surfaced with the G.A.R. regarding Middleburg's memorial. IAS files contain excerpts from Middleburg: A Book, published by Middleburg Bicentennial Committee, 1975; and George Franklin Dunkelburger's "Story of Snyder County," (Snyder Co. Historical Society, Selinsgrove, 1948), which details controversy.
