Description:
A monumental geometric sculpture consisting of eight, tall, partially cylindrical, concrete towers. The curving walls of the towers are built in four-foot sections of poured concrete. The height of each tower varies (the tallest is 18 feet) and the top of each tower is slanted. The eight towers sit on a concrete pad at the entrance to the University. The installation site is one of the highest points in the Miami Valley and overlooks the Miami River, a path taken by Indians and explorers.

Remarks:
The sculpture was funded by a $3,750 grant from the Ohio Arts Council matched by funds from the Louis B. McCalley bequest to Miami University. IAS files contain a copy of the dedication program; a Miami University press release announcing the dedication; a copy of a flyer dated 1989 describing the outdoor sculpture of Miami University's Middletown campus; and several articles from the Miamian, the Miami University newspaper. The sculpture was dedicated during the tenth anniversary celebration of Miami University's Middletown campus. The artist was a faculty member in Miami's School of Fine Arts.
