Description:
Full-length female figure representing Justice wears a long white, blue belted toga and a red cape draped on her back. She is bare-footed and has short wavy hair crowned with a tiara. She holds scales in her upraised proper left hand, and a sword, pointing towards the ground, in her proper right hand. This figure of Justice is not blindfolded.

Provenance:
Formerly located Montgomery County Courthouse, Independence, Kansas ca. 1900-1938.
Remarks:
Originally part of the Montgomery County Courthouse in Independence, Kansas until the building was remodelled in 1938-1939. It was then given to the former owner of the current site, a Mr. Torner, by his brother Harold. The present owners have repaired the proper left arm. Children climb on the sculpture. IAS files include a reference to the Coal Run News, Book One, pg. 58.
