    Remarks:
Carol Cadue is the daughter of Kickapoo Tribal Chairman Steve Cadue. The sculpture was part of a two-year project sponsored by the Salina Arts and Humanities Commission. Sculpture was meant to be part of a series of "indigenous women in their homelands." The sculpture was created using techniques of burning and mowing, without plowing. In the fall of 1992, the artist and volunteers hand-planted 450 yellow cornflowers in the crescent moon behind the profile of the sculpture to complement the 250 yellow penstemon growing along the line of the profile. For additional information see Stan Herd's "Crop Art and Other Earthworks," New York: H.N. Abrams, 1994. IAS files contain a related article from the Topeka Capital-Journal, May 24, 1991.
