    Remarks:
IAS files contain copies from "The History of Cambridge, Vermont" compiled by Winona S. Noble and published by the Town of Cambridge describing the monument and its creation. $2,5000 was secured for the creation of the monument. Funds came from those left unused in the city War Chest and by popular subscription. Local townsman Harvey W. Varnum, formerly with the Barre granite firm Boutwell, Milne and Varnum, secured a designed for the memorial and local Barre quarry workers blasted, drilled and cut into the existing rock ledge to create the memorial setting. T. F. McGann & Sons fabricated the plaque.
