    Description: 
    Figure of a male teenager standing on a swing that hangs from a tree. He is wearing jean shorts and no shirt. His proper right arm is outstretched pushing the chain of the swing out. His proper left arm is bent and is holding the opposite side of the swing. His weight is on his proper left leg and his proper right leg is bent.

    Remarks: 
    The sculpture was commissioned by Arthur Rubin to serve as a sign for his art gallery, the Chicago branch of the International Galerie of Art in Paris. After his gallery went out of business, Rubin donated the figure to the City of Highland Park. Mary Block titled the sculpture "Golden Boy," but after installation the popular piece became known as "Boy on the Swing." A bronze plaque on a rock beneath sculpture reads: A gift to the/City of Highland Park/from/Arthur & Betty Ganser Rubin/1983. IAS files contain a copy of the Chicago Tribune, Nov. 15, 1992, section 18, pg, 1, 10, 11, describing the artist and her work, with a description of this piece.
