    Description: 
    Full-length figure of a Civil War color bearer. He wears a military uniform including cap. He holds a sword in his proper right hand. The blade of the sword is almost parallel with the ground. He holds a flag and flagpole against the proper left side of his body. The flagpole is topped with an eagle. The bronze sculpture stands on a multi-tiered stone base.

    Remarks: 
    The monument was funded through local subscription and was erected to the memory of the 156th Regiment, U. S. Volunteers. Cost of the monument was $2,000. The monument was dedicated on the anniversary of one of the battles in which the Regiment took part. The monument was relocated in 1936 within the community of Highland, due to road construction.
