    Remarks:
The memorial fountain was erected by William A. Wadsworth and Herbert Wadsworth in memory of their mother, Emmeline Austin Wadsworth. The bear was sculpted by Bayre; the marble portions of the fountain were fabricated in Maine. Andrew J. Willard, a local contractor, excavated the fountain site. The fountain base cost 7,000. Over the years the bear has been painted various colors and has been decorated during the holidays.
