    Remarks:
General Nathaniel Lyon was Eastford's most famous native son, having served with distinction in the Mexican War and Civil War. In 1907, a commission was appointed by the legislature with a budget of $500 to improve the burial place of General Lyon. In 1909, the surrounding lot was reconfigured to place emphasis on the memorial, a cobblestone retaining wall was built, and three canons placed on its top. For more information see: Mildred C.
