Description:
Full-length figure of Confederate soldier standing on a tall pedestal. Figure is bearded; head is turned to proper left. He stands with weight on proper right leg, proper left leg is bent at the knee, proper left foot extends slightly off the base. Figure grasps barrel of rifle which stands vertically on the ground in front of proper right foot. Figure wears military uniform, bedroll on proper left shoulder, and a hat. Base is flanked by two cannons. Relief of a crossed rifle, sword, and flag on front of base.

Remarks:
IAS files contain copies of related articles from The Demopolis Times (Demopolis, CT), Oct. 13, 1910, pg. 8; an undated article from the Tuscaloosa News; and an undated clipping with historic photograph of the monument from the Marengo County Historical Society Files located in Bluff Hall, Demopolis, AL. On July 16, 2016, the monument was damaged in a car accident which knocked the Confederate soldier to the ground.
