    Remarks: 
    The sculpture cost $10,000. It was installed by the federal government over the graves of the unknown dead who were killed during the Battle of Plattsburgh on September 11, 1814. The sculpture was fabricated by the Van Amringe Granite Company. The base was installed by J. J. Fitzpatrick. IAS files contain a related excerpt from The Antiquarian 5 (Fall 1988): pg. 12-17; and articles from the Press Republican, (Plattsburgh, NY), July 15, 1975; and the Syracuse Herald-American, Nov. 9, 1986. IAS files contain a portion of the original sculpture contract with the Van Amringe Granite Company, dated June 1908.
