    Description: 
    A three-tiered, highly ornamented fountain set in 20 foot circular concrete pool. The bottom tier consists of four winged horsed with water spurting from their mouths. The second and the third tiers are decorated with gargoyles with water spurting from each. The fountain is topped with a figure of Cupid holding a fish with both hands.

    Remarks: 
    Ponce de Leon was a Spanish explorer who discovered Florida in 1513. The fountain, from Italy, was bought by the North Ponce de Leon Development Association with money solicited from North Ponce businessmen. Before its installation at its current site, it was located in front of the Viscaya home of John Deering in Miami, Florida. City engineer George Kingsbury, oversaw installation of the fountain in Coral Gables. Nearby plaque reads: PONCE DE LEON FOUNTAIN/PRESENTED TO THE CITY OF CORAL GABLES/BY THE PONCE DE LEON/DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATION/THIS 23RD DAY OF JULY 1973.
