Description:
A figure of a Confederate soldier standing wearing a uniform which includes a brimmed hat. He holds the barrel of a rifle in his proper right hand. The butt of the rifle rests on the plinth at his feet. His proper left foot is slightly forward and his proper left arm is down by his side. The soldier stands atop a tall tiered granite base.

Remarks:
The Cleveland Public Library files contain addtional information on this sculpture. Erected by the Jefferson Davis Chapter, United Daughters of the Confederacy, with the help of the John D. Traynor Camp, United Confederate Veterans. The sculpture was made in Italy and shipped to the United States. IAS files contain related article from "Civil War Monuments and Memorials in Tennessee" which lists the inscription.
