Remarks:
The sculpture honors those men from Union County who gave their lives during the Civil War, World Wars I and II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. The sculpture was designed by the Clayton Garden Club and was presented by them during a Veteran's Day program in 1953. The Farmers and Stockmens Bank, the First National Bank, the local post of Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion, Jim Hass and Isabelle Aragon Beard assisted the Club with the financing the plaque that was installed at the sculpture's rededication. IAS files contain a related article from the Union County Leader, Nov. 1984.
