Standing figure of William Beck Nicholson in a baseball uniform with a baseball cap, swinging a bat to his proper right side. He is posed ready to run. The sculpture is installed on a circular brick base on a small brick patio.

Remarks:
William Beck Nicholson, born in Chestertown in 1914, became a respected major league baseball all star who led the National League in home runs in 1943-44. He played for the Philadelphia Athletics, Philadelphia Phillies, and Chicago Cubs. IAS files contain a related article from the Kent News (Maryland), Oct. 6, 1992. IAS files contain the text of two plaques embedded in the brick patio in front of the sculpture that discusses the career of Nicholson.
