A drum sits sideways atop a draped tree stump. There is a fife on top of the drum; drumsticks on the right; and a drum belt on the left. Bayonet scabbards are visible beneath the drapery and a cannon ball sits on a short protrusion from the stump. A United States shield is carved onto the face of the stump, above the cannon ball.
