(Other three sides of the base have commemorative inscriptions) unsigned
    Description: 
    Confederate soldier in uniform stands at parade rest, holding the barrel of his musket with both hands. The butt of the gun rests on the ground. He wears a hat, shirt, pants, and boots. He stands atop a base consisting of a pedestal mounted on three tiers. The front of the pedestal has a relief of a flag and all four sides of the base have inscriptions.

    Remarks: 
    Erected by the Maids and Matron Club and the Noxubee Rifle Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy of Brooksville, Mississippi. Dedicated to the Confederate soldiers who died in the Brooksville hospital after the Battle of Shiloh, April 6, 1862, and were buried near this site. IAS files contain complete transcription of inscriptions. For additional information see "Brooksville Erected Monument to Local Confederate Dead," Noxubee Historical Society, no. 23 (Sept. 1982).
