Remarks:
The monument was donated to the town by Colonel Silas Ilsley. The contract for the monument, signed Nov. 18, 1904 by the Jones Brothers and Colonel Silas Ilsley, specifies a completion date of May 30, 1905. Marshall and Seward Jones, founders of the Jones Brothers Company, were the primary sculptors. The monument covers a fire protection cistern which became obsolete when the village water system was modernized.
