Description:
Civil War color bearer stands holding a sword in his proper right hand. The sword is angled downward and his proper right arm is at his side. His proper left arm is bent upward at the elbow and his proper left hand holds a staff bearing the flag. The figure's proper right foot is forward and the proper right knee is slightly bent. He is dressed in a military uniform and has a flag carrier draped over his shoulders. The flag staff has an eagle sculpted at the top and rests on ground to the proper left side of the figure's proper left foot.

Remarks:
The total cost of the sculpture was approximately $625. The Post contributed $500; remaining funds were raised by subscription. The sculpture was originally sited approximately 30 feet closer to the door. IAS files contain an article from the Laclede Blade dated April 9, 1915.
