Remarks:
Commissioned by the corporate owners of the building (initially named the Wells Fargo Building) and developed as part of a 1.1 million dollar public art program. The project was part of the One Percent for the Arts, Community Redevelopment Agency, Art in Public Places program; and supported by co-developer Atlantic Richfield Co., a subsidiary of Rockefeller Center, Inc. The artist intended his design to be functional, a sculpture that people could sit, stand, and walk on. IAS files contain transcription on adjacent plaque; a June 2, 1982 press release and pamphlet: "Wells Fargo Building: A Guide to the Art Program."

Treated 1995. Wharton & Griswold Associates, Inc. (Santa Barbara, CA). Treatment report on file with operations manager, P. M. Realty Group (Los Angeles, CA).
