Description:
Memorial installation consisting of a full-length figure of a soldier in uniform. He holds an American flag above his head; his proper right hand grasps the flagpole. The flag flies parallel to the ground. The bronze sculpture stands on a large uncut base of black granite. The sculpture stands in front of a highly-polished curved black granite wall.

Remarks:
The memorial was installed in phases: phase three, which consists of an eternal flame, was not completed at the time of the SOS! survey. Cost of the sculpture and wall was approximately $150,000; total cost of the project is estimated at $320,000. IAS files contain copy of related article from Courier-Post, Feb. 6, 1995.
