St. Igantius kneels on his proper right knee, extending his left hand to present his sword. His shield lies in front of him. He is dressed in military garb, including a helmet.

Remarks:
The sculpture was a gift of the Class of 1962 in honor of their 35th reunion. The sculpture represents St. Ignatius' conversion from a soldier's life, which led to his founding of the Jesuits. A nearby plaque reads: SAINT IGNATIUS LOYOLA/(1491-1556)/Founder of the Society of Jesus (1540)/Ignatius, a Basque Nobleman and Solider,/Presents his Sword and Dagger/Before the Black Madonna at Montserrat,/Symbolizing his Spiritual Conversion/The Sculpture by Lawrence Griffis, was Given by/The Class of 1962 for their 35th Reunion.
