    Description: 
    Figure of a Native American brave standing with his left foot resting on a rocky ledge, his right hand holding an arrow, his left hand holding a bow, and his gaze directed off to his proper left. The figure has been painted green to resemble a green verdigris patina.

    The statue was formerly installed as the centerpiece of a boxwood garden on the estate of Heziah Smith, founder of Smithfield Village, which was home of the Smithfield Iron Foundery located near Mt. Holly, New Jersey. For additional information see: Carol A. Grissom's "Zinc Sculpture in America 1850-1950," pg. 144-150; and Marin Gridley's "America's Indian Statues," pg. 24 and pg. 89, which shows identical figures, one wearing a small feathered headdress.
