Inscription:  (Side of cross:) O'bRIAN/DURROW/IRELAND (Front of pedestal:) In memory of the/Irish immigrants who/dug the New Basin Canal/1832-1838/this Celtic Cross/carved in Ireland/has been erected by the/Irish Cultural Society/of New Orleans/Dedicated Nov. 4, 1990 (Also inscribed on front of pedestal is the Gaelic translation) signed Description:  Celtic cross atop a pedestal with a polished front containing an inscription in both English and Gaelic. There is a circle around the cross section, and the front of the entire cross is carved with an interwoven design. A stone capital sits on top of the cross. The cross and pedestal rest on a concrete base painted white.
