    A chain saw carved totem pole depicting a Native-American chief with his arms crossed in front of him and a single feather pointing straight up from the back of his headband. Parts of the figure are painted brown. The totem pole rests on a circular stone base surrounded by a fence.

    Plaque on front of fence surrounding sculpture reads: THIS SCULPTURE IS A CREATION OF ARTIST PETER/TOTH AND IS HIS GIFT TO THE PEOPLE OF MINNESOTA./IT IS ONE OF FIFTY SUCH MONUMENTS WHICH HE PLANS/TO ERECT, ONE IN EACH STATE OF THE UNION. THE/ARTIST IS MOTIVATED BY HIS GREAT DEVOTION TO THE/AMERICAN INDIAN AND HIS HOPE THAT HIS WORK/WILL DRAW ATTENTION TO THE PROBLEMS CONFRONTING/DESCENDANTS OF THE "ORIGINAL AMERICANS."/LAKE COUNTY AND THE CITY OF TWO HARBORS/ARE GRATEFUL AND PROUD THAT THE ARTIST/SELECTED THIS SITE FOR HIS MONUMENT IN MINNESOTA. IAS files contain a brochure describing the artist's plan to create a monument to Native Americans in all fifty states.
