A second panel show's Chevrolet's first winning car at Indianapolis, driven to victory in 1920 by brother Gaston, with four Speedway pioneers in the background -- Carl G. Fisher, James A. Allison, L. A third panel shows Chevrolet's second Indianapolis winner, driven by Tommy Milton in 1921, with Capt. E. V. Rickenbacker, Col. A. W. Herrington, Louis Schwitzer and C. W. Van Ranst. The fourth panel shows Chevrolet's 1923 Barber-Warnock Fronty Ford at the Speedway with Henry Ford at the wheel and Louis standing alongside, flanked by Barney Oldfield and Harvey Firestone.

Remarks:
IAS files contain copies of unidentified articles discussing the monument, the artists, how the piece was funded, who the donors were and who is honored by it. The original plan to fund the piece called for 200 gifts of $200 each. More than 58% of the necessary $40,000 was raised that way. Louis Chevrolet was a Swiss-American automobile racer and designer. Fred Wellman was the designer of the monument and Adolph Wolter was the sculptor. See IAS files files for full text inscriptions and photocopies of bronze reliefs.
