    Description: 
    A nude, winged cherub with a halo sits atop a decorative hinge that supports a three-sided clock on the corner of a building. The cherub's arms are wrapped around an architectural element; its proper right leg drawn upwards. The cherub's head is turned to the proper left and looks downward.

    Formerly in the collection of L. S. Ayres Department Stores, Indianapolis, Indiana
    Remarks: 
    The sculpture was commissioned by L. S. Ayres Department Stores and went on display on their building on Washington & Meridian, beginning in 1947. In Jan. 1992, The May Department Stores Company (the parent company of Ayres since 1986) closed the Washington & Meredian store and donated the sculpture to the city. The sculpture has become the official mascot of the Indianapolis Holidays Committee and Indianapolis Downtown, Inc. and is used as their logo. It is traditionally put on display only from Thanksgiving through Christmas night. IAS files contain articles from The Indianapolis News, Dec. 16, 1992, and Nov. 27, 1993; The Indianapolis Star, Oct. 24, 1993, and Nov. 28, 1993.
