Description:
Twelve figures arranged against the gigantic doric columns which are topped with art deco egg-shaped urns. The figures represent the various aspects of Heart's enterprises. The figures of Music and Art, and Comedy and Tragedy are located at the two entrances. The figures of Sport and Industry are at the corner of 56th St. and 8th Ave. The figures of Printing and Science are at the corner of 57th St. and 8th Ave. Comedy is a medieval court jester with a mask of comedy at his feet. Tragedy is a hooded male with a mask of tragedy at his feet. Music is a classically draped male holding a lyre in his proper right arm. Art is a female holding an armor helmet in her proper right hand and an oval shield in her proper left hand. A snake rises at her feet. Sport is a male, draped to the waist holding an oval element in his proper right hand. Industry is a male in a hard hat, shirtsleeves, and classical drapery below his waist. Printing is a male in medieval robes with his proper right foot on a miniature hand printing press. Sciences is a hooded female holding a book to herself with both hands. Two owls are at her feet.
