A memorial comprised of three figures, two classical Corinthian columns, and a Latin-style cross. The center figure is a bronze portrait of Jacob C. Thomas. He stands in front of the cross, which towers above him. He stands with his weight on his proper right leg, proper left leg slightly bent and forward, with the foot extended partly beyond the granite platform. Thomas is bare-headed and has a full beard. He wears a knee-length coat with wide lapels and a buttoned vest. His proper right hand is held at stomach level, with a finger inserted into the vest.
Flanking Thomas are two seated female figures, barefoot and in classical dress. Both figures have their hair in a bun, with ringlets falling down their backs. The figure on Thomas's proper left holds a wreath in her lap. The figure on Thomas's proper right holds a torch in her lap, with the flame pointed down and touching the ground. To the side of each female is a classical Greek Corinthian column with a bronze tripod and lamp on top. The figures and columns rest on a base with stairs leading up to it.
